“Benins rally Solomon Edebiri for Senate to partner Gov. Obaseki development”

Edo South Senatorial Race: the issues; the pretenders; and the consensus opinion*
Edo South region is undauntedly the largest geographical mass, the most indigenously populated, and oil mineral resources base of Edo State. Ironically, it hasn’t fared well in the league of the 109 districts of Nigeria since 1999 owing to crass under representation by the Senators elected to represent the Benins. No thanks to anti intellectual political leaders of PDP and APC who preferred a set of fourth/eleven of the Benins whose only interest is to promote the interest of their political leaders outside our geopolitical zone.
The senatorial race tilt towards a replacement for the incumbent Sen. Matthew Urhoghide of PDP who has been guilty of crass misconception of the germane aspirations of the Benins. This obvious position provides the APC a chance to put forward a grassroots oriented candidate that will receive the support of all Benins, including the traditional institution. From the aspirants touted as possible candidate of the APC, a good number of them are pretenders, camouflaging as Pan-Benin men whose only relevance is their ties to political godfathers.
Presently, the APC aspirants for the senatorial ticket are Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon and Dr. Solomon Iyobosa Edebiri. While Hon Patrick Obahiagbon is rumoured to be relying on the political chess board of Adams Oshiomhole, Dr. Solomon Edebiri as usual has been called upon by varied interest and pan-Benin groups to accept the challenge of providing responsive representation  at this most  critical period  in the history of Benins. We are worried that politicians from far and near believe that the former is a pretender who may not be able to defeat the incumbent PDP candidate, as they are of the opinion that if he gets the ticket, but ends up being defeated by the PDP, he will be satisfied with a political appointment in the federal government. On the other hand, Dr. Edebiri is generally regarded as the game changer, with a complimentary credentials to support the noiseless administrative style of Governor Godwin Obaseki. In addition, Edebiri has a high gubernatorial pedigree capable of winning senatorial seat in any district of Edo State, based on his total acceptability across the State.
It is a known fact that sociocultural groups like the Benin Forum, Benin National Congress, Otu-Alaghodaro-Edo, and the Talakawa Parliament, Benin Youth Congress have their love for these two politicians, but majority of them have special preference for Dr. Solomon Edebiri owing to his two decades of political humility and sociocultural dexterity.
In view of these facts and the urgent need to refocus the energy of our youths across the seven local government areas, especially in the provision of jobs, skills and wealth creation, the Benin National Congress and Benin Youth Congress would wholeheartedly support the election of Chief Solomon Edebiri if his party, the All Progressives Congress elects him as its candidate for the upcoming National Assembly election. We call on all members home and abroad to standby this resolution to ensure the enthronement of a pragmatic Senator for Edo South post 2019 general elections.
Based on the foregoing, Sen. Matthew Urhoghide has maintained a clear posture of a pretender who has been hibernating in the euphemism of Sen. Bukola Saraki struggle against President Buhari; we also know that Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon will sustain this pretentious political toga because of his desire to be a beneficiary of imposition by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole rather than participating in the direct primaries; hence we have overwhelmingly resolved to support Dr. Solomon Iyobosa Edebiri MON as the Senator elect come 2019. The Benins have suffered enough of exclusion from Niger Delta empowerment initiatives for youths and women, and based on current political crossroads, the Benins desire the pair of Godwin Obaseki who is a progressive technocrat, and an industrially minded Senator in Dr. Solomon Edebiri. He is hereby endorsed under our hand as sociopolitical mouthpiece of the Benin people.
